26 - Samadhi – Child’s Play For An Anadimukta
Sadguru Nirgundasji Swami was seriously ill. Bhaishri and many other saints were sitting near him.
They were looking worried. Nirgundasji Swami was peaceful. Swami spoke to Bhaishri, ‘You go into Samadhi quite often. Some times you remain in Samadhi for days together.’
Bhaishri did not respond. Swami requested, ‘Bhai, please go in Samadhi now.’ Bhaishri inquired, ‘Why?’ Swami explained, ‘Please, enter the Samadhi and ask Maharaj when would he take me to His abode?’ Bhaishri said, ‘Swami, for you, where is the necessity of transit? You are always absorbed into the divine form of God.’
Swami agreed, ‘You are right. But please go and ask when would He allow me to leave this body?’ Bhaishri said, ‘Swami, as if you don’t know! Actually you know every thing.’
Swami tried to explain, ‘In Vrishpur, you used to enter the Samadhi, therefore people of Vrishpur had the privilege of Darshan. Here also please enter the Samadhi and inquire Maharaj. So that all can have the opportunity of Darshan. Thus, everyone would come to know about your greatness.’
Bhaishri resisted, ‘so what?’ Swami insisted, ‘No Bhai, you please enter the Samadhi and inquire Maharaj.’ Swami requested persistently. Therefore Bhaishri consented. Bhaishri went into Samadhi. Everyone was observing. What would happen?
Bhaishri woke up late in the evening. They approached Bhaishri. Bhaishri informed, ‘I went to Maharaj through Samadhi. Swami was fully absorbed into the divine form of Maharaj and was looking blissful.’
Everyone listened to attentively, Bhaishri continued, ‘Swami is great. He is an Anadimukta.’ The saints agreed, ‘Yes, we know that.’ Bhaishri concluded, ‘Maharaj told me that He will come on Aaso Sudi Ekam at 1:00 a.m. in the night to take Swami with Him in His abode.’
They were astonished. Some of them were ignorant and couldn’t believe this. They asked Bhaishri, ‘How did you know?’ Bhaishri replied, ‘Maharaj has informed me. Otherwise why should I say such thing?’ They said, ‘We shall see.’ They couldn’t believe the statements of Bhaishri.
Bhaishri returned to Vrishpur. It was Aaso Sudi Ekam, Padava. Haribhaktas and saints were attending to Swami. They knew that Maharaj would come to take Swami with Him.
The ignorant people came to witness. Maharaj took Swami with Him to His abode at exact 1:00 a.m. everyone was full of grief. The people who did not believe repented. They talked among themselves, ‘We questioned the statements of a great Mukta Bhaishri. Now we must go to Vrishpur and beg for his forgiveness.
They went to Vrishpur and asked for the forgiveness. They repented their misbehaviour.
Difficult words:
Transit - Moving of goods or people from one place to another
Grief - Deep sorrow
Repent - To feel regret
Points to ponder:
- Swami Nirgundasji was an Anadimukta. He knew Bhaishri very well, but to make others realize the greatness of Bhaishri, he asked Bhaishri to enter the Samadhi.
- Bhaishri used to remain in Samadhi for days in Vrishpur. Sometimes he used to remain in Samadhi for seven days, sometimes for eleven days and sometimes for twenty one days.
- It is very difficult, even for the saints and ascetics to enter the Samadhi, but for an Anadimukta it is very easy.
