12 - Young Teacher

One day Narayan was reading narratives of God at home. Meanwhile, his friends arrived. Narayan greeted them, ‘Welcome.’ They all sat down around Narayan. Narayan asked, ‘What is the matter? Today how come all of you have arrived together?’ A friend informed, ‘We all have come here to learn from you.’ Narayan asked, ‘What do you want to learn?’ Another friend replied, ‘English and Maths. Narayan, you always get first rank in exams. Would you teach us?’ Narayan replied, ‘The same portion has been taught by the teacher in the school, isn’t it?’ The friend replied, ‘Yes, but whatever the teacher teaches, we do not understand properly. His method is very tough.’ At the same time another friend complained, ‘I cannot understand at all.¬’ with these words he scratched his head. All of them laughed. Narayan said, ‘All right, let me teach you today. Please pay attention.’ Narayan began to teach. He taught in such a simple and interesting manner that everyone listened to it attentively. Narayan taught in such a good and methodical way that they understood quickly. The friends said, ‘All these days, teacher had been explaining, but we could not understand. Today Narayan taught us and we have understood it immediately and remembered it also. Narayan, you are our young teacher.' A friend inquired, ‘Narayan, How do you know to teach so well?’ Narayan explained, ‘When the teacher teaches us, I listen to it attentively, revise it at home and I always, keep Shreeji Maharaj with me. Therefore, I understand everything immediately.¬’ All the friends thanked Narayan and returned to their respective homes.
